UTP & Bangkok!!!

Yo yo peeps!! Man, have i got lots to tell you bout...

UTP

Our gig in University Technology Petronas last week was AWESOME!!!! We weren't really expecting any response. In fact, we weren't expecting anything... UTP being far away in Ipoh, we didnt expect them to even watch Blastoff... so obviously if you didnt watch blastoff, you wouldn't know us... Well, we were wrong!!! This is wat happened:

The drive up to UTP was challenging but really fun. We got lost a couple of times... When we reached, the guard got on his radio and was like, "Artist dah sampai, over!"... and we were like, "Artist???"... Then he asked us to wait by the side of the road for about 5 mins, and then came this convoy of six cars to be exact... We were all, " oookay... wats goin on!" Then the organizing chairperson of the event got down and greeted us, and told us to follow their escort. So, we had six cars to escort us in... We still didnt have an idea, why would they need six cars to escort us... Well, there's a huge reason to that... I'm not gonna write bout it here, coz it'll sound like i'm bragging... Lets just say, The response of the ppl was way beyond our expectations.... hehehe... Talk to me personally, if you wanna know the details of wat happened!!

They gave us a guest house to stay in, that was way better than a five star hotel!! It was huge and posh!!! Oh n the performance was held in a big ass 'stadium-like' hall!!! Got freakin nervous when we saw the place!!! You wanna know how the performance went? Well, imagine this... we were singing "we will rock you", without any music, without even us singing... juz the whole beat (u know how the "we will rock you" beat goes), and screams from the ppl... the stage was practically all shaky!!! Yeah, thats all i'm gonna say... oh n after the performance, well, *flash* *flash*... (As i said, i dun wanna sound braggy, so ask me personally on wat happened) hehehe

BANGKOK!!

....One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble....

I and Keith left for Bangkok on Monday, 9th of April for a holiday. Actually keith was goin there for a business trip with my mum and the HR team of their company (Keith works with my mum btw). So i decided to tag along for a short holiday. I got back last nite (11th of April). Keith would be back this weekend.

Guess who was on the flight with us???? guessed yet??? well it was Jacqualine Victor... hahaha... cool ey? And the best part is, She Recognized Us!!!! She was like, "Hieeeeeee"... and we were like "OMG *smile* *smile* hehehehe" ...
So, yeah, we were on the same flight to bangkok!!! YAY!!

Wat did we do in bangkok? well, keith only had the nights to hang out, as he had to be in the office in the daytime... So, i juz spent my time relaxing, doing nothing, juz like wat i did in Perhentian last month.... Chilled by the pool, with a nice Cuban, a couple of cocktails, and ATE like a KING!!... hehehehehe Then by night, when keith got back from work, it was PARTY all the way... Beer's like soooo cheap there... RM18 per jug... and this is the hotel price!!! Cool ey? So yeah, u guessed it, we had lots of it! hehehe

Oh n Tiger shows n stuff?? well, waste of time... it kinda freaked me out... Juz so crappy and vulgar!! Didnt enjoy any of it.. We ran out of these places... settled in a decent bar, and had fun... Oh n SHOPPING!!!! hahaha

Well, thats bout it... see ya soon!!!

ps: Black Knights, miss you guys soooo much... its like i havent seen you guys in ages!!!!

Hey everybody, Aunty Mable's have been really busy since the end of blastoff. We've been making up for all the work we've missed in the office during blastoff while practising like crazy in order to keep up with the many requests to perform. We had to turn down a few though.

Here it goes;

GIG: We'll be performing in ISS Consulting, an IT SAP Firm, for their Employee Kickoff Meeting. It'll b held on the 17th of March (Saturday).

GIG: UTP (University Tech Petronas) in Perak for their Battle of the Bands. Aunty Mable's is scheduled to play as guest band, as well as be the judges for this event. It'll be held on April 7th.

GIG: Hitz Birthday Bash in April...

GIG: Sabah tour. Aunty Mable's will be playing as guest band for Miss Sabah/World 2007 in KK on the 6th of May 2007. Then we're schedule to play for a Music University, also situated in KK. Two days after that, Mable's will be playing in Sandakan for a Sabah fan tribute organized by the Sabah Fan Club. Opening act for this show would be one of our close buddies, a blastoff band as well. We'll keep you posted on the opening act, only after it has been confirmed.

NEWS: Aunty Mable's will be recording our single by end of this month. It would be released and out on hitz.fm soon.

ROCK*STAR Dilemma

Guess what??? Aunty Mable's the champion yaw'll!!! hahahahah First Place baby!! Oh sh*t, I've never won anything in my life before... the closest i've come to winning is, third place. This is like totally awesome dude! Though we won, i personally think that we didnt do our best for the finals. I know we could've done better. The reason we didnt do our best was coz the damn sound on stage was F-ed up! Totally. My monitor wasn't playin sh*t. None of us could hear ourselves on stage, therefore we juz played by heart. It was the worst sound i've ever played in my life. All that long hours of soundcheck for nothing. But other than that, we still had fun on stage. We enjoyed every last moment of it. We started of with a slow number... our own composition, "Fly With Me", and then went on playin "I Hate Myself For Loving You". After the whole show, we had a crazy in-house party. I had a talk with brian (the main judge). He said, "based on tonight's (the finals) performance, Coda's the champion, coz you guys didnt give it your all.. I know you guys are capable of more. BUT based on consistency, you guys nailed it!! You guys never fail to capture the crowd n give a damn good show." Oh wow... thanks Mr. Brian...
True... true...

We'll i would like to personally thank CODA for all their assistance during soundchecks n stuff. We're gonna miss you guys like crazy. We've become really close buddies. I think that Coda was the best band of blastoff season three. No doubt. Nas is an excellent guitarist. Everytime he goes on stage, i pay close attention to him coz, he plays the guitar like a real pro. He knows his stuff. Awesome dude!!! Coda, Coda, Coda, Coda!!!

Oh man, i'm gonna b pretty lonely on thursdays, fridays n saturdays now. I spoke to every other contestant, and they felt the same. Its back to LIFE now. Juz wanna say to all the bands n vocals, we realy dig you guys... Love ya like crazy! We will meet again!

As for the future plans, we hope to realease our single by next month... If the funds come in on time. Music video will b out soon too. And finally album by end of this year. Hopefully it all goes well. Gigs, all over... we've got so many gigs to play in already. Oh n watch out for a collaboration of rap & rock... real soon... starring Aunty Mable's & Ghetto Republic a.k.a Mable Republic... hahaha.. yeah watch out for that. Below are some photos of our last performance n our buddies. Oh btw, we broke a damn guitar for the finals... hahahaha... we gave them the rock show they wanted!!

Besides all that's mentioned above, I would like to personally thank my mum & dad for being there every freakin week... standing in the front row n supporting, giving their all. Really love you guys. Also would like to thank my cousins n my brother, n the rest of my family for their awesome support! Also like to thank dwayne's n keith's family n all our friends (my high school friends) for being there EVERY WEEK too... Besides that, also appreciate my church members n some CF-ers (chen fei, sharon, sue li, clayts) for being there whenever they could. My church members n my CF-ers r like my life... a big thanks to ALL those who have supported. "Guys, although you probably came only for one performance, i totally understand n i totally love you guys, coz i know you were supporting all the way. For the rest who didn't give a sh*t, keep your crap to urself... I DON'T REMEMBER YOU!!!" hahaha... yeah thats how it is....

To all our fans in East Malaysia, as well as all over the nation, The Official Sabah Fan Club owned by Uncle Chris, WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!! ARAMAITI!!! Couldn't have done it without all you guys that i've mentioned above. Watch out for more of Aunty Mable's.

BlastOff!!!

Finally! BlastOff has started. We're into the fourth week of the competition now. There were ten bands when we started, now there's only 5 bands left. The competition is getting tougher every week. Every band is improving, n its gettin freakin hard to compete! Well, we're giving our best... hopefully the votes that we get will b enough to at least get us to the finals. The picture above is from our first performance. That pic was out in the Malay Mail. So far, we've been gettin' good reviews from the papers n magazines, as well as the judges n Astro's staff. So, the pressure is on us to keep moving upward n maintain the good impression that we've portrait to the judges, press, and viewers. If we screw up even once, there goes our rep. I've been super bz... I'm working on the night shift this month... I work on sundays till wednesdays, then BlastOff's soundcheck n the show itself is from thursdays to Saturdays, a minimum of 12 hours a day. Its really tiring. But i love it!! Dreamt bout this bout 9 years ago, n its finally comin true... hahaha.... Thank God! It’s truly God's favour that's gettin us through. We've made it a point to pray together every single time before we go on stage, be it soundcheck, rehearsal, or the real thing.

These are the three factors we need in order to make it in this competition: 1) We need full support from fans during the live show; 2) We need the judges to be impressed; 3) we need the votes to keep us in.

If we managed to get all three factors, we’ll be remembered. Well, on the first week, we conquered all three factors… The crowd was there… everyone came to support… family, frens, etc…. Secondly, the judges were totally impressed; n finally the votes were strong. We’ve also experienced that the second and third week. But after our third week’s performance, we’re loosing out on one factor, which is votes. I’m afraid that the crowd may be reduced this week too. If that happens, we’re screwed. Aunty Mable’s is known for their craziness on stage as well as their HUGE crowd. Every week, our crowd conquers the arena. If this week, that drops, we’ll be dyin’ slowly. Well, we’re doin our best in inviting n callin up ppl to come. The third week, we had the largest crowd ever… This is coz the crowd mainly consisted of ppl we didn’t even know… which is a good thing.
The regular attendees for our shows (these guys are there every week; rain or shine) are, my parents, Keith’s family (cousins n all), our high school frens (kainge), Hermann n his boys, Andrew’s ppl, Dwayne’s family n frens… On behalf of Aunty Mable’s, I would like to thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts for your support. Really appreciate it. Keep on comin guys!!
The best part is, we don’t even need to call this guys up or remind them, or even beg them to be there… they’re there no matter wat goes down! Oh, n they surprise us every week with new banners, n new ppl that they bring along! You guys ROCK!!!!!

For those of you who have been tryin’ your best to make it, but due to certain reasons, you couldn’t make it, no worries I totally understand… I juz hope that at least before the show ends or we get kicked out, you would at least be there ONCE. ( This is for you... not the below one k... hehehe)

Then there’s this other group that doesn’t really FEEL like coming, or feel that they could do better things with their time instead of comin down to watch their “so called” close frens play; oh n they’re like close buddies by the way, not some distant group of friends; well, good for you. Your “awesome support” is much appreciated!!! If you were to ask me, why r u so emo bout this… Well… ehmmm… Have you thought this through? Its not some freakin battle of the bands or some pub performance u know… IT’s on FREAKIN TV for heaven’s sake! If it ain’t that big ‘a deal, it won’t be on NATIONAL TV!! It has to be on some level to b out on TV rite??? This is freakin huge!!! Have you made it to national tv???? No???? Then how come this ain’t big enough to deserve your support!!! This shows how important we are to you guys! This competition may not b as important to you, as it may b to us, but u should realize how important YOU GUYS are to us! N the fact that your support would mean more to us than winning this thing! Well, anyway, juz so u know, if you guys were in blastoff, or some other thing, I would not find EXCUSES not to be there, but rather I would make WAYS to come n support every single time I can ( and you know I would!!).Let me make this clear, If we honestly SUCK, then by all means, dun watch, support, cheer, or vote for us! But if we entertained you, then do the necessary…

Anywayz, getting back to the shows… our first & second show was very emotional coz the bands that went out were our really close buddies from east Malaysia… We really miss them. We’ve become really close throughout the months coz we’ve been spending like a lot of time together. They’re awesome musicians. We still do keep in touch n I’m thankful for that. The second week, we played a slow number, as a tribute to our friends who were taken out of the competition, as their flight was after the show. They were there in the front row supporting us n other bands as well before they left… N they were like so sad all… It was all hugs n kisses n juz a whole lotta emotions after we played the song…Well, juz wanna wish them all the best, n keep on rockin, guys!!!We’re comin over soon for rainforest festival!! YAY!! We’ll get to hang out like crazy then… Can’t wait!!

Well, that’s all for now… Here are some pics of the shows n our buddies!!
